Our peopleEdwin de Ridder - Head of Logistics
Purchasing raw materials is an important aspect when producing animal feed. But even if we buy the right raw materials, it doesn't mean that they are also available for incorporating in the feed. Edwin de Ridder is head of logistics in the purchasing department. Together with his team, he ensures that all the purchased raw materials are delivered to the factories at exactly the right moment.

Our peopleLucie Humeni – Sales specialist for horses
Usually, people’s memories of their first encounter with horses are firmly etched in their minds. Not Lucie though. She grew up with horses from such a young age that she can’t remember a time when she wasn’t around them. Her love for horses was also encouraged by her aunt, who owns horses and is also a top rider. It was therefore no surprise that Lucie’s focus at secondary school and later university was on agriculture.

SustainabilityOptimising feed production in Egypt
In the northeast of Egypt, aquaculture is showing huge potential as a sustainable source of animal protein. Sustainably producing animal protein is the sum of all its parts; from the sourcing of raw materials and the processing in the factory, to optimising feed conversion. Building on its experience in the poultry sector, De Heus invested in a new aquafeed production plant in Borg El Arab, Alexandria. Here, Amro El Kady and Yasmine Kamar try to optimise the production of animal feed day in and day out.

Han Verdonk, Team Leader Formulations Premix & Specialties, talks to us about De Heus’ centralised approach to premix animal feed formulation and how the interplay between the global premix animal feed formulation team and local business units benefits animal production.
