In 2019, Marcino & Daniel from Brazil took part in the Natural Power training in the Netherlands. Marcino is originally a vet and has worked for De Heus Brazil since 2014. During his training, he visited eight farms with more than 8,000 sows and learned all about the Dutch pig sector. His main goal was to learn how to support farmers in Brazil improve the health status on their farms.

When De Heus acquired a premix animal nutrition factory in Rio Claro, Brazil in 2012, Industrial Manager Alexandre Reis, was instrumental in transforming the existing production lines into a modern, automated facility which produces premixes that are safe and easy to use. Gábor Tiszaváry is a sales specialist for De Heus in Hungary. His function is diverse and challenging. Visting partners, collecting orders and checking the performances of the animals are examples of weekly routines. Gábor his role is to advise the farmer about management and feed. He helps customers with things like: subsidies and farm equipment. “We are part of their lives, not just a supplier.”

The strategy of De Heus is twofold. In several countries De Heus has its own operating companies and factories, in other countries De Heus supplies the local market through Koudijs, its export organisation. Koudijs’ position as an animal feed supplier brings its own unique characteristics to supporting customers, says Harry Schimmel, Sales Manager for the African and the Middle Eastern markets. Having worked and lived in both Ethiopia and Myanmar for several years, he can share more about Koudijs’ role in developing countries.

Chuon Chansophal is a yellow broiler farmer and lives together with his wife and 3 children. He started his yellow broiler farm in 2008. “I experienced many ups and downs in my business.
