De Heus premixes are designed to work seamlessly in the production processes of both feed mills and farmers. When De Heus acquired a premix animal nutrition factory in Rio Claro, Brazil in 2012, Industrial Manager Alexandre Reis, was instrumental in transforming the existing production lines into a modern, automated facility which produces premixes that are safe and easy to use. He tells us about how the factory was developed and how it meets customer needs on a daily basis.

Helping farmers in South Africa reduce their use of antibiotics

Antibiotic resistance is a major threat to human and animal health. De Heus is committed to not only eliminating antibiotics from its feed by 2030, but also to helping farmers reduce their use of antibiotics as a preventive measure against disease. The EU has already introduced regulations restricting the routine use of antibiotics in agriculture, but in countries like South Africa, legislation governing antibiotics is still lenient. As a result, administering antibiotics to animals is an everyday practice on South African farms.

Last week De Heus-Nutrifarms held their first Customer Day in the city of Rio Claro, São Paulo. More than 170 customers got acquaintance with the blended strength between De Heus Animal Nutrition and Nutrifarms. When Percy joined De Heus in 2011, he was driven by more than a job opportunity. The company’s values, expressed through its core slogan "Together for Better Results", deeply aligned with his own ambitions: to contribute to high-quality feed production, support animal well-being, and serve the farming communities of Vietnam and beyond. The name Percy, chosen at the very beginning of his career, was inspired by the character Percy Jackson, the son of Poseidon known for his control over water. As he joined the Aqua division, it felt fitting—a name symbolizing strength, adaptability, and purpose.
