Our peopleTravis Chu Huynh Nhut Thien - Swine Genetics & Farms Manager
Travis joined De Heus at the end of 2021 when the company acquired Masan MeatLife’s (MML) animal feed business. Since then, Travis has found great fulfillment in this function — a role where his strategic thinking, practical mindset, and people leadership come together.

SustainabilityA surprising source of sustainable ingredients
A third of all food for human consumption in South Africa is never consumed. This food usually ends wasted in landfills. By law, food that has not been sold before its expiration date is no longer suitable for human consumption. This forces bakeries in South Africa to take back any bread that has reached the end of its shelf life in the supermarket. De Heus saw a unique opportunity to use the valuable nutrients of this bread and prevent them from going to waste.

SustainabilityAssuring the existence of pig farmers in South-East Asia
In the pig farming business, healthy and strong piglets form the basis of healthy porkers. This is not just about giving the right, high-quality feeds, but also about carefully planned feed management. Another essential aspect is to inseminate sows with high-quality sperm. That is why we have opened our own sperm station in 2016. This way, we are able to guarantee independence and a bright future for sow farms in South-East Asia.

SustainabilityDemonstrably raising the logistic efficiency
In everything we think and do, we are demonstrating our awareness of the necessity to handle energy more efficiently. By continuing to invest in new ideas and systems, we succeed in structurally reducing our energy needs. Thereby reducing our environmental footprint even further. We do this in a number of ways, including the following (based on examples in the Netherlands).

Within this association, clear principles have been formulated regarding a range of social topics that concern the feed industry. Take, for example, sustainability. We endorse these viewpoints and interpret these into concrete measures for us to take:
