A seemingly ordinary modern-day swine farm – one of around 3,600 in the Netherlands. But if you look more closely, the observant viewer will notice the 30+ feed silos huddled to the left of the main building. A hint that something unusual is taking place inside.

Kadi Mey Ismail, Product Manager Aqua, regularly visits farmers to find out the exact conditions and requirements of the local market. During his visits, he gains information to share with his stakeholders. He works with other departments, such as formulation, QA/QC, production, purchasing, technical specialists and commercial teams to power progress in the specific field of aqua feed. Kadi: “For me as product manager aqua, one of the most important challenges is to develop aqua feed that suits the local farm needs and conditions.”

Farmers of today have to cope with many challenges. Next to volatile prices and increasing market demands, they face upcoming legislation and societal concerns about animal welfare and responsible use of antibiotics. Royal De Heus launches centre for practical research into pig nutrition
Royal De Heus opened its centre for practical research into pig nutrition, ‘De Elsenpas’, on Monday 6 May. Feeding research can now actually begin following the arrival of the first TN 70-SPF breeding sows. The inauguration underlines De Heus’ ambitions to take the next step in the continuous development of innovative pig feeds.
