In 1990, Jenneke and Hergen Smid from the Netherlands got married. In 1996, they built their first free-range barn and in 2020 they are renovating the farm together with their sons to prepare it for the future. Jenneke: "We were ready for a new challenge ourselves, but we are delighted that we can do this with our children."

Trainee Poultry Nutrition
As a trainee you will have unlimited access to the world of animal nutrition at De Heus Animal Nutrition. You will spend two years working in several disciplines and gain practical experience in an international environment. Samantha Akello – Marketing Officer, Koudijs Uganda
Samantha Akello joined De Heus on 1st October 2024 as Marketing Officer for Koudijs Uganda. She is a skilled marketing and communications professional with a strong foundation in economics. She studied Economics at Makerere University and is currently pursuing a Diploma in Professional and Digital Marketing with the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), UK. With an exceptional background in sustainability, clean energy, the food & beverage industry, and hospitality, Samantha has a deep understanding of influencing consumer behavior and creating meaningful connections.

Elżbieta "Ela" Lorek – Warehouse Manager
In 2016, Ela started on her journey with De Heus Poland, drawn by the promise of a career that resonated with her expertise in production planning and warehousing. Though the early days posed formidable challenges, Ela's tenacity and adaptability paved the way for growth and fulfilment. Nowadays she leads a team of 12 people. Reflecting on her journey, Ela remarks, "Every challenge I faced was an opportunity for growth. It was through overcoming obstacles that I truly discovered my capabilities and passion for this industry. One thing is important to me. I never forget that I was once in the same position as my employees."

How collaborating with De Heus produces an optimal result
Marco Antônio Guardabaxo has been a farmer all his life. He’s also a true entrepreneur. Over the years, he’s grown his business into a thriving operation that now includes a huge pig farm and a packaging company. When the health of his pigs started to deteriorate, he collaborated with De Heus. With De Heus premix for pigs he solved the problem and improved the productivity of his animals. Marco Antônio Guardabaxo is owner of Fazendas Pinheiroe Graminha & Rioplastic located in São José do Rio Pardo in Brazil.

Paula Gabriela Henriques - Technical Assistant of Monogastric
Paula Henriques was born in Mozambique and has always had a passion for animals. She says it is in her genes. After graduating in Zootechnical Engineering, she decided that her primary objective was to help improve the living conditions of animals. She is currently a Technical Assistant of Monogastrics, with enormous experience in the animal and feed sector. She began her career in the mid 90s, maintaining her connection to the company that became part of the De Heus Group.
