Premix
Working with a strategic partner to deliver premix innovation
In order to deliver the most innovative solutions as part of its premix animal nutrition strategy, De Heus forms strategic partnerships with key suppliers. The aim is to co-develop innovative new products, tools and service offerings that optimise animal performance and health. One such partner is Phileo by Lesaffre, who has a long history in yeast and now uses beneficial micro-organisms to naturally improve human and animal nutrition. Clara Berger, Strategic Account Manager at Phileo, and Jan Soede, Innovation Manager Premix & Specialties at De Heus, explain how the two companies work together and what the partnership means for customers.

Piglets
Reduced clostridium diarrhoea through change in feeding approach
The first day after farrowing all looks good. But on the second or third day however, suddenly there are piglets in the farrowing room that have a drop in growth. The first thing that comes to mind is that the sow has too little milk. But a more careful look shows small spots of diarrhoea lying about here and there. By means of a quick test it is easy to isolate the pathogens that are playing a role here.

Traineeship
Celine Chang - Manager Global Support Poultry
Celine Change (33) has always had wide interests. As a student at Wageningen University, she chose to specialise in nutrition and adaptation physiology. Knowing about an animal's physiology is one thing, but how can you influence physiological and other environmental aspects through nutrition? Celine wanted to know more. When she was in Australia for a study project in 2012, she found some information about the traineeship at De Heus. She was immediately intrigued. Next November, it will be 9 years since Celine joined De Heus, where she is currently Manager Global Support Poultry.

Rafał Blachowski - senior distribution specialist
Choosing to work at De Heus was not accidental. In 2009, Rafał graduated in commodity science from the Faculty of Animal Bioengineering at the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn. His first job was working as a sales representative. In 2014, whilst browsing through job advertisements, he came across a vacancy for a distribution specialist at De Heus. Having graduated in agricultural studies, he was familiar with animal nutrition. Furthermore, he had already heard a lot of good things about De Heus. Many of his college colleagues worked at De Heus and praised the conditions and opportunities there. Rafał applied without hesitation and was invited to an interview at the company's headquarters. In 2015, he officially joined the De Heus team.
