Safety and consistency: our two core ingredients for animal feed production
All over the world, De Heus provides farmers with the feed solutions and technical support they need to achieve their individual farm objectives. To meet the nutritional needs of livestock and aquaculture and generate predictable results, De Heus has implemented a consistent feed quality approach across all its business units. So, whether you’re in Poland, the Netherlands or Ghana – every bag of feed that a De Heus factory produces tomorrow will have the same feed quality as today.

Achieving local impact as a supplier of animal feed
The strategy of De Heus is twofold. In several countries De Heus has its own operating companies and factories, in other countries De Heus supplies the local market through Koudijs, its export organisation. Koudijs’ position as an animal feed supplier brings its own unique characteristics to supporting customers, says Harry Schimmel, Sales Manager for the African and the Middle Eastern markets. Having worked and lived in both Ethiopia and Myanmar for several years, he can share more about Koudijs’ role in developing countries.

Pavel Ryšánek - Grain Purchaser
Pavel Ryšánek is a new dad and a raw materials purchaser, who tries to divide his time evenly between taking care of his little newborn son and working for De Heus (Czech Republic). He graduated from the University of Defense, where he studied Purchasing and Logistics. During the last two years at university he worked for a Logistics Provider in a part-time job in order to gain experience. He stumbled upon De Heus by chance while searching for job offers, so it is his first full-time job after graduation. Luckily for us he has stayed (for six years already).

Piglets
Weaning all piglets as healthy as possible
The number of live born piglets per sow is increasing year by year. On average, there are over 14 live born piglet in a litter and for farms ranked among the top 20% in Holland this figure is as high as 15 live born piglets. Given this many liveborn piglets, it can be a challenge to rear them all up to weaning. Supplying extra milk in the farrowing room, in cups or by hand, can support the sow in weaning more piglets. In addition, motherless rearing can also aid in increasing the number of piglets weaned.
