Stimulating and enabling research
A consortium of companies within the Netherlands Association of the Animal Feed Industry, NEVEDI, and the animal production chain, in collaboration with Wageningen University, has developed a Livestock Research programme: Feed4Foodure. De Heus financially supports this programme. In fact, we fulfil a pioneering role in this. And we not only provide financial support, we also gladly share the use of numerous research facilities on our own research farms. Our objective is to make a substantial contribution to a sustainable and healthy livestock industry in the Netherlands. And together, to reinforce our competitive position on the global market. Feed4Foodure focuses on three areas of research:

Safety and consistency: our two core ingredients for animal feed production
All over the world, De Heus provides farmers with the feed solutions and technical support they need to achieve their individual farm objectives. To meet the nutritional needs of livestock and aquaculture and generate predictable results, De Heus has implemented a consistent feed quality approach across all its business units. So, whether you’re in Poland, the Netherlands or Ghana – every bag of feed that a De Heus factory produces tomorrow will have the same feed quality as today.

Supporting a nation on the road to self-sufficiency
In his 3 years working as export manager at Koudijs, Mark Hop had seen the needs of his customers and the market in Ivory Coast change more and more. Another thing he’d noticed was the government’s shift in focus to self-sufficiency in animal proteins. That meant tremendous opportunities for people engaged in agriculture. “Especially for livestock farmers to grow their businesses and for arable farmers to produce raw materials for feed production.”

Responsible use of antibiotics: A holistic approach to animal health
Farmers of today have to cope with many challenges. Next to volatile prices and increasing market demands, they face upcoming legislation and societal concerns about animal welfare and responsible use of antibiotics. To support farmers in tackling these challenges at the same time, De Heus developed the Natural Power programme. A hands-on and tailored approach to healthy, highly productive animals by boosting their natural power. Increasing farm performance and supporting farmers to use antibiotics responsibly.
