Royal De Heus production of animal feeds meets high Tesco standards
Various De Heus plants throughout Europe are regularly inspected by Tesco. During its inspections, this British supermarket chain thoroughly assesses whether the production of our animal feeds complies with its specified requirements. We always aim to produce high-quality animal feeds. It is therefore rewarding to see that Tesco found our animal nutrition to be up to their standards during their latest inspection of one of our sites in the Netherlands. This confirms that our quality criteria and method of working continue to meet the highest possible standards.

Support of social objectives
Our participation in unique projects probably appeals most to the imagination when it comes to our social involvement. In the regions we operate in, these projects make valuable contributions to the well-being of the local population. Examples of such projects include:

Use of Solar Energy
Decreasing our local footprint is an issue we are continuously working on in the different countries we operate. In 2018, for example, we invested in a 516 kW rooftop-based solar energy system in Myanmar. This solar energy project is part of De Heus’ global CSR strategy of looking for renewable ways of generating energy for industrial production and decreasing the environmental impact. Myanmar being a country with high solar radiation intensity, makes it even more effective for decreasing the environmental impact. This has resulted in the realization of the largest solar rooftop in the country. The investment was done as part of the greenfield Mandalay feed mill construction project. In total 663 MWh of renewable energy per year is produced which is equivalent to saving of 1.5 MT of CO2 emission per year. On top of that, the steam consumption of this factory is generated by renewable fuel sources as well, making it the most sustainable feed mill of Myanmar, and hopefully an encouragement for other investors to invest in renewable ways of energy generation as well.

Active participation within Nevedi
For many years, De Heus has been an active member of the Dutch sector organisation for the animal feed industry, Nevedi. Within this association, clear principles have been formulated regarding a range of social topics that concern the feed industry. Take, for example, sustainability. We endorse these viewpoints and interpret these into concrete measures for us to take:
