Single use plastics form one of the largest environmental challenges in Uganda. Which is why Koudijs Uganda has set up a program aimed at the collection and reusage of single use feed bags. The program incentivizes farmers to return used bags by giving them a discount on the purchase of animal feed. Koudijs expects to recycle a significant amount of used polypropylene bags as a result of this new initiative.

To ensure the high quality and reliability of its premixes, De Heus sources a large number of ingredients from China. This allows the company to build more sustainable supply chains. Two strategic Chinese partners are Jiangxi Tianxin Pharmaceutical, a high-tech enterprise specialising in vitamin production, and Meihua Group, a global leader in amino acids for the feed industry. Our peopleIsabel Barreiro - Formulator
Isabel Barreiro has worked as a formulator in the Spanish formulation department since 2016. In 2008 she obtained her veterinary degree. Isabel spent four years working as a researcher at the university and obtained her PhD, which she wants to present this year. Before becoming immersed in the world of animal nutrition and working in a small farming cooperative, she worked as clinician.

Our peopleTassia Mye Banin Thomazini - Quality Control Supervisor
Tassia began her career at De Heus as a Quality Control Analyst, joining the Quality team at the time when the laboratory was set up in the country, located in one of the units of Rio Claro, in the interior of São Paulo. Today, Tassia oversees all the procedures and laboratory staff, who not only perform much of the monitoring analyses of raw materials and finished products from all De Heus Brazil manufacturing units, but also analyse samples for various De Heus customers. "Every day I learn from new challenges, both in the technical and people management field," says Tassia.
