Helping employees thrive through effective programmes for safety, health and well-being
At De Heus, we believe that we can only give our customers the best support if our employees are healthy and able to collaborate in a safe, nurturing workplace. By taking care of their physical and mental well-being, we can help our people function at their best in both their private and work lives. To achieve this, we offer a safe and inspiring work environment, promote a healthy lifestyle and encourage our employees to develop themselves. In Poland, the company's commitment to outstanding employership is demonstrated by the Top Employer certification awarded to De Heus Poland in 2023. We talk to Aleksandra Frankiewicz, Director Human Relations at De Heus Poland, and Wichard Bieze, Global Director Human Resources, about the programmes that help give employees a healthy work-life balance and how they reflect De Heus' global HR policy.

Learning & development
We think it is very important that employees can continue to develop themselves. At all levels, in all functions and in all ages. In a rapidly changing market, we enable employees to continuously develop their skills and expertise. For this we have an extensive range of (online) training and courses available. Training in the area of expertise, skills and attitude. Training in the field of nutrition, languages, project management, sales, online marketing and much more.

Periodic employee survey
The opinions and ideas of our employees are very important to us. That is why we are carrying out periodic surveys, allowing them to give anonymous feedback to the developments within De Heus. Not just regarding facilities and working environment, but also job satisfaction and opportunities for personal and professional development. The most recent survey, demonstrated that the commitment, satisfaction and drive among employees has increased further. The survey also indicated which organisational matters need improvement. These insights have been interpreted into concrete points of action, which are currently being implemented.

Our employees' health
We consider it of great importance to contribute to our employees’ physical and mental well-being. In this context, everybody is regularly invited to participate in a Preventive Medical Examination. The personal results are only discussed with the employee concerned. This way, he or she will obtain insight into their own lifestyle and health. The general results allow us to improve our employees’ health and sustainable employability even further. For example, we offer discounts on visits to fitness centres. In fact, this has become one of the fixed terms of employment.

Development programme for young employees
Our Young De Heus (YDH) programme offers young professionals an inspiring platform. Here, they will find information, coaching, guidance, and involvement regarding challenging topics of current interest. In addition, it acts as a driver and facilitator in new, mutual, multidisciplinary cooperation projects. This way, young employees are given ample opportunities to accelerate and expand their personal development. And while they are gaining new insights, their enthusiasm and acquired knowledge allows De Heus to continue to develop and innovate.

How the global HR listening survey will help De Heus develop as a learning organisation and drive our success
Earlier this year, De Heus conducted its second global HR listening survey. About 10,000 colleagues were asked questions, covering a number of areas, about their experience of working at De Heus and how engaged they feel with the company. Wichard Bieze, Group Director Human Resources, tells us about the results and how they will help us build a future-oriented, learning organisation as we grow and develop.
