Impressive results: how LMM transformed productivity at Rancho Alegre Farm
In the Lavínia region, in the countryside of São Paulo state, Rancho Alegre Farm experienced a true turning point in productivity. Today, the operation can clearly be divided into two distinct phases: before and after the arrival of MUB, which in English means Low Moisture Mix, a nutritional technology developed by De Heus. Veterinarian and beef cattle producer Ulisses Bogaz Prato has always believed that success in beef production lies in the balance between genetics, management, and high-quality supplementation. However, it was with the introduction of MUB that this combination went beyond expected productive and reproductive performance indicators.

A change with “out-of-the-ordinary” results
In recent years, Ulisses had been recording average pregnancy rates between 63% and 65% per FTAI. The challenge was always the same: to intensify genetic selection, aiming for fertility and heavier weaning weights without compromising management practicality.
In 2024, the scenario changed. With MUB available in the pasture, the herd responded in a remarkable way: the pregnancy rate increased to 73% per FTAI, and the breeding season closed at 93% in just 38 days — results that exceeded even the producer’s highest expectations.
“Every year we apply stricter selection, and each year the challenge increases, as it had in previous years. Last year, with the use of MUB, I achieved out-of-the-ordinary pregnancy results. The only change on my farm was the introduction of MUB.”
Technology that respects the rhythm of the field
With a demanding routine split between farm management and his work as a technical consultant, Ulisses values solutions that deliver results without adding complexity to daily operations.
MUB can be placed directly in the pasture, eliminating the need for traditional feeders. Its resistance to rain and wind prevents product losses, resulting in less labor and greater efficiency, according to the producer.
“Practicality makes all the difference. You simply place MUB in the pasture and it does the rest. It’s the kind of technology that fits real farm life: simple, efficient, and delivers returns without any issues. It can rain, and the cattle will still consume it. That’s why I strongly recommend the product, based on all the results I’m achieving here on my property,” says the De Heus client.
Looking to the future
After a year of outstanding results, Ulisses is already planning the next steps: further increasing reproductive efficiency and optimizing the breeding season timeframe.
“Looking ahead, my goal is to achieve a one-day breeding season with a single FTAI, reaching pregnancy rates between 80% and 85%. I know it’s challenging, but with properly adjusted nutrition and De Heus’ technical support, I’m confident we can get there,” Ulisses explains.
Olavo Lopes de Sá, De Heus Key Account Manager – Ruminants, closely followed the work carried out at Rancho Alegre Farm and highlights that the system’s success is the result of combining technical rigor with consistency:
“Ulisses is an extremely meticulous producer. He measures, compares, and adjusts. When a technology like MUB is introduced at this level of management, results appear quickly. Of course, it is the sum of several factors which, when well aligned, make MUB supplementation an indispensable ally for increasing producers’ profitability — as demonstrated by the Rancho Alegre Farm case.”
A journey partnership
The relationship between Rancho Alegre Farm and De Heus is built on technical dialogue, trust, and close support. More than a supplement, Ulisses sees MUB technology as a management tool — from reduced labor requirements and assured supplementation to efficient weaning, since MUB enables simultaneous nutrition of both cows and calves. This allows the well-known “creep without creep” approach, as MUB itself functions as the feeder.
In De Heus, Ulisses sees a true journey partner toward smarter and more profitable beef production.
“It’s a product designed for those who live the day-to-day reality of the farm,” Ulisses concludes.
