AquacultureOur aquaculture R&D facility in Vietnam in pictures
Our aquaculture R&D center is located in tropical Vietnam next to the Mekong river. This is ideal because we can do the research trials under near-market conditions. For example use water with similar quality parameters resembling the markets where we are present, in Vietnam, South East Asia and other warm water aquaculture producing countries. Water is pumped into sedimentation ponds to get rid of suspended solids, before it is pumped into a reservoir tank. From here gravity will take care of supplying water to the rest of the facility which consists of an indoor section and an outdoor section.

SustainabilityHelping farmers in South Africa reduce their use of antibiotics
Antibiotic resistance is a major threat to human and animal health. De Heus is committed to not only eliminating antibiotics from its feed by 2030, but also to helping farmers reduce their use of antibiotics as a preventive measure against disease. The EU has already introduced regulations restricting the routine use of antibiotics in agriculture, but in countries like South Africa, legislation governing antibiotics is still lenient. As a result, administering antibiotics to animals is an everyday practice on South African farms.

When she was in Australia for a study project in 2012, she found some information about the traineeship at De Heus. She was immediately intrigued. Next November, it will be 9 years since Celine joined De Heus, where she is currently Manager Global Support Poultry.
