Sérgio Henriques – Small Ruminant Product Manager
For Sérgio Henriques, agriculture has always been more than a profession. Growing up in a family closely connected to livestock farming, he developed a passion for animal production and nutrition from an early age. After studying Animal Science and gaining over a decade of experience in technical and commercial roles, he joined De Heus Portugal in 2017.
Making a difference for farmers every day
Today, Sérgio works as Small Ruminant Product Manager in Portugal, supporting dairy sheep, dairy goat and lamb-fattening farms across the country. His role combines expertise in nutrition, reproduction, genetics, animal welfare and farm management.
What makes his work so rewarding? Seeing customers achieve real, measurable improvements. By providing practical advice and innovative solutions, he helps farmers improve productivity while supporting animal welfare and long-term farm success.

Living the farmer's reality
“One of the things I value most in my role is that I can truly relate to the challenges our customers face. Besides my work at De Heus, I run my own sheep farm and manage a small rural farmhouse in Lourinhã, a region known for its dinosaur discoveries. In fact, a dinosaur bone was even found on my property. Being actively involved in farming myself helps me understand the day-to-day realities of livestock producers and allows me to offer practical advice that makes a real difference.”
