Since joining De Heus Indonesia in May 2019, Andre Meirta has demonstrated that the role of sales is about much more than meeting quotas. Being a salesperson carries the responsibility of building trust and long-term relationships. As a Sales Staff member in the Shrimp Feed Division, Andre plays a key role in strengthening collaboration between farmers and the company.

Bridging two parties

According to Andre, the greatest challenge for someone in sales lies in balancing the company’s interests with those of the farmers. “A salesperson must be able to reconcile customer needs and company objectives, so that a win-win solution can be found,” he says. Through this approach, Andre is not just selling feed; he is cultivating mutually beneficial and sustainable partnerships.

Empathy and psychology

In the dynamic world of aquaculture, Andre believes a salesperson’s success depends heavily on strong personal qualities. “Confidence is important, but even more essential is knowing the product, understanding the customer’s needs, and grasping their psychology,” he explains. By understanding the character and needs of farmers, he is able to provide appropriate, targeted solutions.

“Sales isn’t just about selling—but serving as a bridge between the needs of the aquaculturist and the company’s vision.”

The key to long-term relationships

When asked about the secret to establishing good relationships with farmers, Andre answers firmly: communication. “Through communication, good relationships develop. The customer can express their complaints and problems, so we as sales can help solve them,” he explains. This sensitivity to customer needs makes Andre a trusted partner in the field.
