De Heus Opens New Animal Feed Factory in Punjab, India
Rajpura, Sept 30th - De Heus India, part of De Heus Animal Nutrition, opens a new animal feed factory in Rajpura, Punjab. The factory, built with an investment of around 17 mln USD, is one of the largest and most advanced in India, carrying an installed capacity of 180 kMT with the potential to expand to 240 kMT. The factory has separate production lines for cattle, buffalo, poultry, and pig feed. It uses the latest European technology and automation to produce high-quality animal feeds.

Exactly two years after the groundbreaking ceremony, the Chief Minister of Punjab,
Mr. Bhagwant Singh Mann returns for the official inauguration ceremony on October 1, 2025, together with Her Excellency Ms. Marisa Gerards, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to India, Nepal & Bhutan, ministers, MLAs, senior government officials, and top management of
De Heus. Chief Minister Mann welcomes the investment, which creates jobs, supports local farmers, and drives innovation in the agricultural sector. Ambassador Gerards praises the partnership, highlighting the growing economic and agricultural ties between the Netherlands and India. The Rajpura facility is expected to generate over 300 direct jobs and create opportunities for hundreds of local suppliers and channel partners. With raw materials sourced domestically, the factory will also stimulate regional agri-businesses.
Mr Co De Heus, Chairman of the Board, mentions that the company is committed to delivering high-quality nutrition and sharing its global expertise with Indian farmers. “By investing in Punjab, De Heus aims to support local agriculture and contribute to the sustainable growth of India's livestock sector.”
Mr. Rutger Oudejans, Managing Director of De Heus India, added that the factory serves as a hub for knowledge sharing, dedicated to delivering reliable and consistent feed solutions, on-farm services, and hands-on training. “With this investment, De Heus is not only providing advanced feed solutions, but also supporting independent livestock farmers by giving them access to global expertise, practical on-farm advice, and innovative services. In doing so, we aim to contribute to the further professionalisation of livestock farming in India, helping farmers strengthen their position in the value chain and meet the growing demand for safe and nutritious animal protein. In parallel, we are committed to producing in the most sustainable way possible, for example by using a biomass boiler and advanced re-use of steam and water to reduce environmental impact.”
