Researcher Swine (maternity cover & PhD trajectory)
Are you passionate about swine nutrition and research, and eager to contribute to innovative feeding concepts? Royal De Heus offers a unique opportunity: a combined position where you will first cover a maternity leave within our R&D Swine team in Ede (approximately 6 months, flexible duration), and subsequently continue into a PhD program at Ghent University (Belgium) focusing on piglet nutrition.

Your responsibilities
As a Researcher Swine you will play a key role in our research program. You will:
- Set up and conduct research trials at our Swine Nutrition Center De Elsenpas in the Netherlands. .
- Collecting data at our Swine Nutrition Center De Elsenpas, such as: weighing piglets, measuring feed intake and judging piglet health.
- Analyze results and translate them into clear recommendations for product development, nutritionists, and specialists
- Contribute to new concepts, services, and feeding programs that are practically applicable for our customers
- Report to the Group Manager Nutrition & Support Swine
- In this temporary role, you will also contribute to designing an innovative PhD project in piglet nutrition. After approval, you will have the opportunity to continue as a PhD candidate at Ghent University, driving research that shapes the future of sustainable piglet nutrition.
Your profile
- Completed MSc in Animal Sciences or a related field
- Strong interest in research, data processing and reporting
- Experience in swine nutrition and data analysis is an advantage
- Strong analytical skills and ability to present results clearly
- Communicative, creative, and a true team player
- Fluent in English and comfortable working in an international environment
- Willing to live in Ghent
