Global Business Development - Strategy Manager

We are looking for a Strategy Manager with at least 5 years of experience who will play a vital role in building out the strategy function within Royal De Heus.

The strategy manager is part of our Global Business Development (GBD) team, led by Janneke Haverkamp-Dijkhuizen our Group Director Strategy and Business Development. Before joining De Heus, Janneke was Associate Partner at Bain & Company The GBD team was established in 2018 to structure, manage and execute the increasing level of strategy projects and acquisition deal flow. The GBD team has been involved in several successful M&A transactions to date in Vietnam, Netherlands, Poland, Indonesia, Ukraine, Serbia, Iran and Spain and is the center-of-excellence within De Heus for all M&A projects globally. Furthermore, the department supports the Board of Directors as well as the business units and regions in setting the global and local strategy. GBD reports directly to the De Heus CEOs, Co and Koen de Heus.

What will your responsibilities be?

As Strategy Manager you will work both with the business and with your colleagues in strategy, M&A and other functions to drive strategic initiatives and support strategic decision making by providing relevant market and business insights.

On a day-to-day basis your activities will consist of two main activities. You will be investigating and analyzing the global animal nutrition markets for our compound feed, premix, concentrates & specialties (PCS) and aqua business units to get to relevant strategic insights and support strategic decision making. Key areas of interest are the market trends, the value chain positionings (incl. profit pool) and competitive landscapes. Furthermore, you will work closely with the business to realize the strategic initiatives and build, maintain and expand a network of in- and external stakeholders / partners and industry experts.

What do we expect from you?

You have an excellent academic track record with a Master`s degree in economics, science or engineering. You have gained at least 5 years of experience in an strategic and analytical role (e.g. , strategy consultancy or other relevant employment) and have preferably already gained experience in the animal feed sector or at least have an affinity with the sector.

Furthermore, you are critical, quality driven, able to think strategically, good in stakeholder management, and are a clear communicator who is able to translate findings into a clear message for a wide audience. Excellent command of the English and Dutch languages is therefore required.

As we are building the strategy function within De Heus, the combination of strategic thinking and pragmatism translates itself in the need to be able to switch between an initiating and developing role and a hands-on role to create standards and provide support.
